Introducing the Assara Team: Q&A with Angela J. (Laser Specialist)

Hi Y’all,

I went to Assara yesterday and asked Angela, one of Assara’s laser Specialists a few questions, so that you can get to know her.  [Also, read about Liz B., laser Specialist, by clicking here]

Angela J.

Name: Angela J.

Title: Esthetician and laser Specialist at Assara, since 2004.

The best thing my job: “I like to make people happy and that’s what I do here. If you’re happy, I’m happy.”

Why I was recruited to Assara: “I’m a trained medical assistant and, over time, working with very sick patients wore down on me. I wanted to work in a specialized field, and one that was more focused on light, happy things. Here, all I do is make people happy by improving their physical appearance and self confidence.  I think it’s a perfect match.”

My speciality: “I have the best laser — here we use only Cynosure Elite laser systems. I can do anything from hair removal and spider vein removal, to laser facials and microdermabrasion. People see great results with the microdermabrasion.”

My most marked character trait: “I’m *almost* a perfectionist. I mean, I’m too much of a perfectionist to even say “I’m a perfectionist.” I just like to do things very well. There’s no point in doing a job that’s less than excellent. People pay hard-earned money to come to Assara, so they deserve my full effort.”

Why I like laser hair removal: “It’s the best type of hair removal in the world. It’s simple and extremely effective.”

The most surprising thing about laser hair removal is: “First time customers are usually surprised at how effective and fast the sessions are. They literally come in with their hair and leave without it. And their skin is smooth and it doesn’t get irritated.”

Most common area women laser: “Upper and lower legs permanent hair removal is the most in-demand. There isn’t a woman out there who only wants to laser below the knee; it’s very old fashioned. Women do full legs now; that means from the ankle to the bikini.”

Most common area men laser: “Back and chest.”

Biggest misconception about lasers: “People think it’s invasive. There’s absolutely no blade and no cutting. The laser isn’t penetrating into your body. It’s 100% safe.”

Hair is . . . : “Well, most hair is unnecessary, but we all have a thin layer of peach fuzz all over our bodies and that you cannot remove. It’s there for a reason. Everything else that grows on your body can go as far as I’m concerned. And it seems like most people agree!”

My best healthy skin tip: “The way you put your skin to bed is important. You’re committing a crime against your face if you go to bed with your make-up and oils and junk from the day on your face.  This is especially true if you live in a big city with lots of air pollutants like New York City. Washing thoroughly and moisturizing is not enough though, you need to use a great toner that does not contain alcohol, which dries out your skin. Toner ensures that you removed the entire film of cleanser residue. The toner also has a tightening and cooling effect, closing your pores and making your skin feel fresh and healthy.”

Her best healthy eating tip: “The skin on your face is a reflection of how you live and how you eat. It’s important to load up on antioxidants, Eat your Berries! Blueberries, strawberries and raspberries. Eat them fresh and raw, and eat them often!”
