Laser Facials and Photofacials

Rhianna (italian vogue)

2010 Fashion Week is over (I made it through!) and here are some cheeky beauty tips I overheard backstage and in the aisles. It seems everyone from the models, to the editors’, journalists and starlets are embracing new non-invasive laser procedures to perfect their look.

We saw a lot of asymmetrical necklines and scoop necks; having a smooth neck and décolletage has never been more important.

But, yikes, these can be the areas that are most hit by sun damage!

Rachel Ray and Laser Facials (photofacial)

I was so happy when I saw this segment on Rachael Ray. It’s about lasers and how they make your skin glow and remove your unwanted hair.

I keep telling everyone about the benefits of lasers and some people just can’t shake the stereotypes: “It’s expensive, dangerous and doesn’t really work.” It can be a little frustrating for me because I’ve seen the results first hand!  Check out these before and after photos:

So when I saw this video I was relieved, phewwwwouffff! Here was a knowledgeable and distinguished-looking doctor telling millions of people about the medically proven results of laser therapy.

bride mirror Getting Married this Summer? Make Sure Your Skin Looks Great!

There is no time more stressful in a woman’s life than the months leading up to her wedding. If it’s not family fights then it’s juggling work and planning the wedding and engagement party (not to mention keeping the bachelor party in check!)

the naked truth

This month’s Australian Marie Claire magazine has model Jennifer Hawkins posing naked and un-airbrushed or unretouched. She looks amazing, her skin is really nice, and she isn’t hairy.

I remember the first time I heard about airbrushing. It was probably 1995 when I read this question to the beauty editor in Sassy magazine: “What is airbrushing and how can I do it at home?”

It seems so naïve now, but at the time no one really knew about airbrushing! (Especially not pimply hairy teenagers reading beauty magazines!)

1. SUN AND AGING ARE INESCAPABLE…

There’s no way to avoid it:  Your face is the first part of your body that shows signs of aging. Sun tanning causes discoloration, hyper-pigmentation and fine lines, and we’ve all been sun worshippers at some point. But it’s not just the sun, other issues like broken capillaries and melasma caused by birth control pills and pregnancy can affect the clarity of your skin. All these issues can be corrected

skin-rejuvenation

Hi Y’all,

I know from my personal experience that getting regular laser facials gave me huge benefits. I’ve blogged about how good they make me look and feel, but I wanted to share some more of my actual results.

I’ll admit that when I first heard the words “laser facial,” I thought

Before and After

Tell me if this has ever happened to you: You’re walking down the street and suddenly you see the prettiest girl with the nicest skin and the best outfit to boot. Immediately (but only momentarily) your self-esteem nosedives just in time for you to think something like “oh she’s born that way. Her good looks and great skin have nothing to do with anything she does.”

But that might not be true…

A recent study of twins with different habits has found that what you do deeply affects how you look.  In other words beautiful clear skin is about
